Grid Ultra-Fast Long-time Magnetic Levitation Flywheel Frequency Regulation System and Application
The “Grid Ultra-Fast Long-time Magnetic Levitation Flywheel Frequency Regulation System” received support from the 2023 National Key Research and Development Program “Disruptive Technological Innovation” key special project.
The grid ultra-fast long-time magnetic levitation flywheel frequency regulation system is an innovative power frequency regulation technology that uses magnetic levitation flywheel energy storage technology to achieve rapid and long-term adjustment of the grid frequency. This system mainly addresses the instability issues caused by the large-scale grid connection of new energy generation, resolving challenges brought by its intermittency and fluctuations. As a platform technology, long-time, large-capacity flywheel energy storage systems can be applied to frequency regulation energy storage scenarios in new power systems, stabilizing grid connection through high-frequency, fast charging and discharging, enhancing the integration capacity of new energy.
03 New Product Release Saturn 2-FW50160
The newly released high-power long-time flywheel energy storage product “Saturn 2-FW50160” primarily solves problems such as slow response of thermal power units, slow regulation speed of chemical batteries, low regulation frequency, short lifespan, and short regulation duration of conventional flywheel energy storage systems. By reducing the mainstream grid regulation response time from minutes to milliseconds and extending the regulation duration from 2 minutes to 15 minutes, this system breaks through the bottleneck of grid ultra-fast long-time frequency regulation technology, ensuring grid frequency stability when high proportions of new energy are connected to the grid, accelerating the high-quality development of the new energy industry and helping China achieve its “dual carbon” strategy goals.
The frequency fluctuation issues brought by new energy integration into the grid have always been a key factor limiting its development. The “Saturn 2-FW50160” addresses regulation response and duration issues, providing strong support for the stable development of the new energy industry and promoting China’s acceleration towards achieving peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality goals.
