The newly released high-power long-duration flywheel energy storage product, Saturn 2 - FW50160, mainly addresses issues such as slow response speed of thermal power units, slow adjustment speed of chemical batteries, low adjustment frequency, short lifespan, and short adjustment duration of conventional flywheel energy storage systems. By reducing the mainstream grid frequency response time from minutes to milliseconds and extending the adjustment duration from 2 minutes to 15 minutes, this system breaks through the bottleneck of ultra-fast and long-duration grid frequency regulation technology, ensuring frequency stability when a high proportion of new energy is connected to the grid, accelerating the high-quality development of the new energy industry, and helping China achieve its “dual carbon” strategic goals.
